Interaction behaviour

Bracken Author interactions can be used in a number of different configurations.

Standard Behaviour

Applies to: Gap Text, Drop Down, Radio Button, Check Box, Highlighter, Drag Drop

This is the normal behaviour when interactions are inserted without any additional customization.

Clicking the mark Mark button causes interactions to be marked based on the settings defined in the Interaction Table by the author.

The retry button Retry button is available as long as the page contains either not answered Not Answered or incorrect Incorrect responses. Any interactions with correct Correct responses will be locked and can no longer be changed. Any Incorrect responses will be reset to the interaction default.

Once all responses on the page are correct Correct, the mark disabledMark button becomes disabled, and the responses can no longer be changed.

Open Marks

Applies to: Multiline Text, Analyse Capture

These interactions are not automatically marked. When a module report is shared with another user for commenting, the educator can assign marks to the interactions. These marks will be visible to the learner when they examine their marked report.

Open Marks interactions are shown as not answered Not Answered until the learner writes some text or captures an image. After this, they are shown as correct Correct. Once the educator has assigned full marks to the responses, they become disabled and can no longer be changed.

Graded Marks

Applies to: Gap Text, Drop Down, Radio Button, Check Box, Highlighter

In addition to defining each response as correct Correct and incorrect Incorrect, some interactions can have different responses assigned to different Graded Marks. Once any Correct type of response is selected, the interaction becomes disabled, even if the response chosen is not the highest scoring.

OutOf = 0

Applies to: Gap Text, Drop Down, Radio Button, Check Box, Highlighter, Multiline Text, Analyse Capture

Interactions can be defined to have an OutOf score of 0. These may be used to collect information from the learner in cases where there are no correct or incorrect answers. The responses are shown as not answered Not Answered until the learner interacts, when they are marked correct Correct for any response, irrespective of values defined in the Interaction Table.

Live Marking

Applies to: Gap Text, Drop Down, Radio Button, Check Box, Highlighter, Multiline Text, Analyse Capture

Live Marking can be applied to all interactions accessed through a particular page; for example, it is used for Wizard modules. When using Live Marking, the mark Mark button is not displayed, but responses are marked as soon as the learner interacts with them. Interactions are not disabled.
