Measuring Tools

new clock

Clock Tool

Put a stopwatch on the screen with 0.00 time.  Time will go backward and forward from this point as you move backward and forward through the video.

new cal

Calibration Tool

Before you can take any distance or speed (speed equals distance divided by time taken to move that distance) measurements you must calibrate your video against a known distance.  Therefore you need an object of known distance/length in the field of view of the video that you can use to calibrate off. Note: You field of view cannot change so when you are capturing DON'T move the camera

Note: Your calibration object must be right next to the person, not on the wall behind or on the ground in front, these positions will cause perspective errors and give you the wrong answer.

To calibrate the software, click and release on the Calibration Tool button and then click and hold on one end of your calibration object. Move the cursor to the other end and then release.  You will get asked to enter the real world distance in cm.  Enter this distance and click Enter to finish the calibration process.

Now use the Distance Tool as explained below.

new distance

Distance Tool

Must be used in conjunction with and after the calibration tool above.  Click and release the left mouse button with the cursor over the video to choose the starting point of the measurement.  Move then click and release again to select the end point of the distance measurement.

Note:  You can only measure distances in the same plane as the camera, any analysis outside that plane will still give you an answer but it will be wrong!!

horis distance

Vertical Distance

horis distance2

Horizontal Distance

As above but this one only measure the vertical distance.

new spped

To draw the complementary angle, reverse the order of the lines drawn.
