Teaching Resources
- Physical Education New Zealand (PENZ) and siliconcoach Ltd have identified the need for teaching resources that would enable student learning of biomechanical concepts and functional anatomy in a graphic and interactive way.To meet this need, siliconcoach and PENZ have collaborated, consulted with teachers and developed this set of resources for teachers to enable student learning in biomechanics, functional anatomy and the appraisal of performance.
“The Movement Resource Pack” consists of 3 separate, but interrelated resources which are sold as one complete pack. Click on the links below to view the contents of each resource.
Resource 1 – “Learning Biomechanics through Movement”
- Understanding Biomechanics through Movement introduces the underlying principles of biomechanics that are used in the teaching and learning of biomechanics around the world.

Resource 2 – “Learning Functional Anatomy through Movement”
- Learning Functional Anatomy through Movement uses basic movements seen in a weight training studio to help students understand functional anatomy through interactive teaching and learning activities.

Resource 3 – “Performance Appraisal – Level 3 Physical Education”
- Resource 3 has resources for use in appraisal of performance within NCEA Level 3 Physical Education courses. This includes material for students as well as assessment tasks based on the 2008 version of national assessments. The resources include video clips of people performing a variety of movements as well as activity sheets that explain the concept of interest.
