Specialized international launch of bike fitting software

23rd September, 2008, in Retail

Held in South of San Francisco, California 2008 45 members of international press focusing on the 2009 Specialized Bicycle Components road bike line up 15 of the top fitters from around the western United States were brought in by Specialized to spend 2 hours fitting each of the members of the international press to Specialized bikes after which all the press headed out on a 2 hour ride. The fitting process involved a thorough physical assessment of the rider and then a comprehensive assessment on the bike which included using the Specialized BG FIT bike fitting software developed for Specialized by siliconcoach. The BG FIT DATA software developed specifically for Specialized by siliconcoach uses dual cameras to capture the rider in motion. The fitter can then analyse that motion in the software with advanced drawing and measuring tools and 1/6oth of a second accuracy to get the best fit possible. “Fitting has come a long way from the static fits of the past” says siliconcoach’s Global Product Manager Steve Stanley. He went on to say “Combining siliconcoach’s skill in providing video analysis solutions and Specialized skill in fitting bikes was the perfect combination. Creating a great product is more than just features, it’s about adding knowledge on how to do the bike fit and that is where Specialized leads the way”. More information on the BG FIT process can be found at [http://cdn.specialized.com/bc/microsite/bgfit/bgfit.html] (http://cdn.specialized.com/bc/microsite/bgfit/bgfit.html) , to find out more about the software click the BG FIT DATA link in the upper right of this Specialized page.
